Tolman turned down a variety of supporting roles, like those performed by mothers, wives and besties, after her first appearance in Fargo. Tolman wanted a new role. Tolman's performance in 2017 on ABC Downward Dog was based on her role in the Animal Media Group Web Series. Following one season, the show was cancelled. Tolman, who is a Twitter user, said that she received "pretty impressive" results for her role in the ABC show Emergence.
